Founder Working Sessions

This isn’t mentoring.
And it isn’t consultancy in the usual sense.

It’s how I work with practice founders when the problem isn’t effort, talent, or ambition —
it’s clarity.

Most founders don’t need more ideas.
They need fewer, better decisions.

That’s what this is for.

How this works

We work together privately over a fixed period of time.

No programme.
No slides.
No frameworks to “implement”.

Just direct, focused conversations about the things that actually shape the practice:

how it positions itself
how it explains what it does
why certain work keeps appearing
where things quietly break down
what needs deciding — not tweaking

I’ll say the things others won’t.
I’ll stop you hiding behind familiar language.
I’ll question assumptions that have gone unchallenged for years.

Not to provoke.
To clarify.

What this is (and isn’t)

This is not about marketing tactics.
It’s not lead gen.
It’s not surface-level positioning.

It’s about getting underneath the practice and tightening the thinking that everything else sits on.

We work on real problems, not theory.
There are no copy-paste solutions.
Every practice is different.

And I stay involved after the conversation, not just during it.

Who this is for

This is for practice founders and directors who are carrying the weight of the business.

You know the work is good.
But explaining it feels harder than it should.
You spend too much time qualifying enquiries.
Fee conversations feel heavier than the work deserves.
Good conversations don’t always turn into the right instructions.

You’re not looking for reassurance.
You’re looking for someone who sees the practice clearly —
and isn’t afraid to say what they see.

The advisory

This is a private advisory relationship,
not a one-off session.

Typically:
3 or 6 months
Regular, focused calls
Founder-only
No deliverables unless they’re genuinely useful

The aim is simple:
to leave the practice clearer, tighter, and easier to run than when we started.

Investment

This work is priced as an advisory, not a session.
Engagements typically start from £3,000 and are scoped based on what you actually need — not a fixed package.

If it’s not right, I’ll say so.

Next step

I don’t promote this heavily.
And I don’t work with many practices at once.

If the way this is described feels familiar — not exciting, not clever, just accurate — you can get in touch.

No pitch. No pressure.

We’ll decide quickly whether it makes sense to work together.

I’ve worked with architecture practices for 25 years — client-side, agency-side, in-house, and as an external advisor.

I’ve sat inside studios.
I’ve worked with founders.
I’ve seen what actually breaks when things stall.

FORM + (FOCUS) exists because too many good practices are let down by vague positioning, inherited language, and well-meaning but useless advice.

These sessions are where that gets stripped back.

I’m Ben Holroyd.

What you’ll leave with

Not a report.
Not a checklist.

But:
Clearer on the language you can actually use
Sharper thinking around who you’re really for
Fewer compromises in how you present yourselves
Practical decisions you can act on immediately

Most people tell me the same thing afterwards:
“Finally, someone that just gets it”

The session—

A single 1:1 working session.
90 minutes.
Private. Focused. Direct. £495 per session.

No upsell.
No obligation to continue.
If it’s useful, you’ll know.
